This body of work explores connection, time, and transformation through the material process of applying photographic emulsion onto paper. The project reflects on the individuals who shape our lives and considers how presence can be embedded within a physical surface.
The preparation and coating of emulsion is central to the work. It is a deliberate, embodied process in which gesture, breath, and movement influence the outcome. The surface records these actions, holding both image and trace. This physical engagement positions the work as a form of communication rather than simple image production.
The concept of the letter informs the project. I am interested in the slowness and intentionality of analogue exchange—how a letter travels through time and space, carrying thought toward another person. In contrast to instant digital communication, this delay creates space for reflection and awareness. The works extend this idea, functioning as visual correspondences shaped by patience and process.
Change and continuity underpin the project. Materials shift, images emerge unpredictably, and relationships evolve. Through this practice, I consider how we exist within an ongoing cycle of movement and transformation, where nothing remains fixed yet everything remains interconnected.
